February 24: Tools for the Tough Stuff: Limits, Boundaries and Expectations

Please join us for the third event in our Parenting Right in the Middle series, for parents of kids in grades 5 through 8.

February 24, 2015, 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Bainbridge High School

Bring your real-family scenarios and issues regarding setting limits, boundaries, expectations and following through. In this class, you will have a chance to practice using a Learner’s Mindset perspective to build cooperation and effective problem solving. We’ll use role plays, partner practice and personal reflection. You will learn how to:

  • Make decisions from a learner-growth mindset point of view
  • Create solutions with your tween
  • Accept all feelings, starting from a place of empathy and understanding
  • Give praise: acknowledge your tweens’ efforts to meet expectations and limits in a learner-growth mindset way

Facilitated by Karolynn Flynn.

Suggested donation: $10

PRITM Logo (1)Parenting Right in the Middle is a series for parents of tweens, grades 5 through 8. By providing education, tools and gathering space, this project will help parents move beyond crisis mode and into a more positive and intentional approach to parenting. This project supports a positive, practice-based approach to parenting that will develop essential internal strengths in parents and kids, and help parents learn to limit, love, listen and laugh.

It is presented by the Bainbridge Island School District, Hyla Middle School, and Raising Resilience, and is funded by a grant from the Bainbridge Community Foundation.
