The Art & Science of Parenting Adolescents: Staying close while standing back

Julie Metzger, RN MN

Pre-teens have a lot on their minds – tests, sports, a friend’s loyalty, parent expectations, fear of being teased – all while undergoing a complete body and brain transformation called puberty. We’ll learn about the developmental stage of pre-teens, the questions and concerns on their minds, and the essential tasks of adolescence. Parents will learn helpful strategies to communicate in a partnership of trust and respect as preteens and parents encounter new experiences challenges.
